Raspberry BellaVitano

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

BellaVitano is a fairly recent creation out of Sartori Foods in Wisconsin. It combines the creamy flavor of a young cheese with the appealing crumbly texture of a premium aged cheese.

There are a number of different flavors. The stuff I had, Raspberry BellaVitano, won Best New Cheese and Best American Cheese at the 2008 World Cheese Awards in Ireland. It is soaked in New Glarus Raspberry Tart Ale to bring out fruity notes. Or so I'm told by this blog post.

I like it very much and plan to have it again soon. I want to try some of the other flavors too.

I’ve had enough. It’s time to speak out.

The iPad was introduced this week. Immediately, fucktards of every stripe started making jokes about maxi-pads. The degree to which this disgusts me is sky fucking high. To be clear: the people cracking the jokes disgust me. I am not in any way disturbed by the realities of menstruation. But to chortle over one's supposed cleverness for coming up with the comedic gem "iTampon?" Yeah, you deserve to have diarrhea pumped into your nostrils with a turkey baster. Every time you make a maxi-pad joke, a baby chipmunk gets run over by a lawn mower. These maxi-iPad jokes actually suck the pre-existing humor out of the world. You have to tell two actually funny jokes to get the ambient humor back to healthy levels. For the sake of fuck, quit with the goddamn maxi-pads, people.

Marvy

Friday, January 29th, 2010

"Marvy" is a slang word coined in the mid-Sixties. It's short for "marvelous." The word has since fallen out of popular use.

I say we bring it back. I will endeavor to season my discourse with it, being careful of course not to overuse it. If you all do the same, I bet we can have the word back in common usage by the end of the year.

Or maybe not. But I'm going to have fun with it anyway, because… Well, just because.

Another great take on the iPad

Here's another article that nicely illustrates my feelings on the matter.

86+ words about the iPad

Friday, January 29th, 2010

My buddy Jai wrote a little essay on his blog about the iPad. It nicely sums up how I feel about the new device.

Well, that didn’t take long

My desire for a Kindle DX has completely transformed into a desire for an iPad. For ten bucks more than a DX, I get color, video, swipe page turning, and App Store compatibility. This thing is made of win.

Make that green. I am steadfast when it comes to web page colors.

Changing Colors

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

SimplePhrase is once again blue, as it was originally. The ugly brown is no more. I did tweak the original blue color scheme a bit and I'm pleased with the results. I have no plans to change the colors again; it feels pretty good to be back in blue. I'm sure that everyone reading this finds all of this extremely fascinating.

Wild Garlic Havarti

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

This is Havarti with wild garlic in it. It tastes like Harvarti with wild garlic in it. I love Havarti, and the garlic did interesting things with the flavor, but I'd just as soon settle for plain ol' Havarti.

Test Crossposting

I've decided to crosspost this blog to my LiveJournal, because I couldn't think of a good reason not to. This post is here to announce that fact and to test the crossposting plugin.
